PAGING ANY CANADIANS READING THIS
Yeah, unlikely, I know, but meh. Anyway, I've just been told that this fantastic show has started airing in Canada as of yesterday. It's not too late to start watching it - episode one is not much more than 'set-up' of plot and characters and you can get a full resume of the story of episode one from the BBC site (link below). I cannot reccommend this show enough. It's the BEST telly I have seen in YEARS. Truly superb.
To witness my full blathering and rampant squee-age about it all as it played out week by week (it's only six episodes long) then go here. Those are all my LJ posts with a 'The State Within' tag, most recent first so you need to scroll down and read up to go in chronological order. Basically this is intelligent telly at its best. It does not pander to the audience, it does not do anything other than assume you have the intelligence and ability to keep up with the plot and thus keeps all its aces up its sleeve till the very end and makes sure the plot twists and turns like a twisty-turny thing. The performances are superb, the writing is mind-blowingly good and the whole thing basically proves what the BBC can do when it really tries. I can't say enough good things about it.
Anyway, for any Canadians reading this, it's airing on "Showcase", Mondays 10pm.
For any Americans reading this, BBC America will be airing it from Feb 17th onwards.
